Our history:

Twin Cedars Bank has operated under the State Bank of Bussey name and charter since 1931 and was originally founded in 1892 as the Bank of Bussey. We will be celebrating 132 years in business on August 2nd this year. The Bank has a rich history ranging from the Bussey Fire of 1912, a 1933 bank robbery which was labeled as “one of the boldest bank robberies in Iowa’s history” (according to the Knoxville Express) and withstood the test of both the Great Depression and Great Recession.

The bank was originally started with $15,000 in capital by several members of the community including Jesse Bussey for whom the town of Bussey was named after. The Hansen family later purchased the bank in 1961 and on July 1, 2022, Rudy Fors purchased the bank with his partners. Their goal is to hold onto the bank’s history and traditions while building a bank our customers, communities and people can be proud to have in their lives. The name “Twin Cedars” pays homage to the two Cedar Creeks that come together just West of the town of Bussey, where the bank was originally founded.
